Step 1
Avoid heels that are too high to walk in comfortably. This is especially truefor a bride, who is more likely to trip over her dress if she has shoes she isunable to walk in. It is also true for guests, however. A good heel height isanywhere between 1 and 3½ inches.
Step 2
Try to choose a heel that is wide and chunky. Heels that are thin and longare less likely to support your feet comfortably. They put most of the weight onthe front of your foot, leading to a lot of pain later on. The wider andchunkier the heel, the more comfortable you will be at the wedding.
Step 3
Consider a pair of open-toe shoes. Although closed-toe shoes can becomfortable, most people find that open-toe shoes make their feet feel much morefree, and that the shoes feel easier to walk in. This is really a matter ofpersonal preference, though.
Step 4
Try shoes on before you choose them for a wedding. Although it is possible toorder comfortable shoes online, you will not know just how comfortable oruncomfortable they will be until you really try them on. Get to your localdepartment store or shoe store if you want to find a pair of shoes that iscomfortable enough to wear to a wedding. You may need to shop in more than oneplace.
Step 5
Reconsider shoes that have straps. Although they can be comfortable for somepeople, they can also cause blisters. If you want to avoid this, chooseopen-back or closed-back shoes.
Step 6
Be sure you are purchasing the right size. Many people find that they need alarger size in heels. Others may find that they need a smaller size. You mayneed wide shoes instead of medium. Try on several different sizes to determinewhat fits you the best.
